The Betek Kayseri Factory has Opened

24.05.2012

Having closed the year 2011 as the leader with a turnover of 668 Million TL in the paint and insulation sector, Betek continued its nonstop investments despite the economic crises in the sector. After the 152,000 m2 facility in Gebze and 11,000 m2 facility in Egypt the 104,000 m2 factory of the company was opened in Kayseri on the 7th anniversary of the passing of Founder Celal Akpınar.
The Betek Insulation Production Facility was opened in a ceremony today (Friday April 27, 2012) by the Minister of Energy and Natural Resources Taner Yıldız and Minister of the Environment and Urbanization Erdoğan Bayraktar with the participation of many public administrators, NGO representatives, Betek Group distributors, business partners, employees and Kayseri businessmen.

BETEK, a leader in the Turkish construction sector serving with Filli Boya, Fawori, Alsecco and Alligator brands,  which emphasizes how important energy efficiency is for the future of mankind, has realized a very significant investment in sustainability, an important issue for our world. The production facility, which will operate on an open area of 104,000 m2, has been established in Kayseri. Comprising the largest outer façade heat insulation systems production facility in terms of technological infrastructure, production capacity and investment value, Betek will be able to produce 36 million m2 of heat insulation systems per year. This figure is equal to the heat insulation sales of the Betek group between 2003 – 2011.

About 40% of the total energy in Turkey is used in buildings and 74% of the energy we need is imported from abroad. It is notable that the use of heat insulation, one of the most important methods of energy preservation, on the over 16 million homes in our country without insulation will achieve an annual savings of 10 billion dollars, a sum that has the potential to reduce our current deficit.

EU countries are planning to consume 20% less energy, switch 20% of buildings over to renewable energy, produce 20% less in greenhouse gases and provide 20% of energy from renewable sources as their goal for 2020. With the objective of Turkey getting closer to EU country standards the Betek Group is undertaking important investments. Active in the global platform of the sector, the Betek Group continues to operate with the vision to become Europe’s largest paint and heat insulation producer.

Our greatest competition is ourselves!
In addition to factory investments the Betek Group draws attention with investments towards sector development and awareness and achieves over 3 times as much heat insulation as its closest rival, underlining that in parallel to its own development Turkey has become Europe’s largest outer façade heat insulation systems market and the company is now its own greatest rival. Since the day of its establishment Betek has been providing energy efficiency to the masses with its pioneering approach in new projects.

She Opened the New Factory of the Anniversary of His Father’s Passing
Speaking at the opening, Betek Group Board of Directors Chairman Gözde Akpınar pointed out that the company she had taken over with her father’s passing in 2005, was moving on with an attitude becoming leadership with infinite trust for the Betek family. Akpınar, who explained that they had arrived at this day by being cautious when necessary and taking on risks in some situations, said opening the facility on the 7th anniversary of her father Celal Pınar’s passing was meaningful in terms of achieving work that would have made him proud.

Betek General Manager Tayfun Küçükoğlu, who pointed out that with the great importance placed on technology, huge investments and resources reserved for R&D, Betek was growing bigger every day, said “Since 2003 when we entered the business of heat insulation with our innovative products and technology, we have insulated 380,000 homes. With the savings these buildings achieved only in heating we enabled 590 million m3 equivalent to 620 million TL less natural gas to be used. By expanding our service infrastructure throughout Turkey we have 1191 employees and created jobs for 48,000 people with 4,500 distributors in this field of operation. He expressed that in 2012 they expected to create 8,000 more jobs just for the new factory.
Küçükoğlu emphasized that this mobilization to insulate was a social responsibility movement that was integrated with the development of our country and as the only company that produced all of the main elements for heat insulation systems in our country they had created a distinction and Kayseri was only the beginning of their investments in this love for Anatolia and the Country.

Betek Insulation Group Assistant General Manager Gülay Dindoruk said that when just the expense of heating was considered in the insulation they applied without considering air conditioning and cooling expenditures, they were preventing the emission of 1.26 million tons of carbon dioxide into the atmosphere, which is equivalent to 93% of the carbon dioxide absorbed by the Bolu Forests in one year or 43% of the carbon dioxide emitted by vehicles in Istanbul traffic in one year. Dindoruk pointed out that their company stood out in the sector especially with education, awareness and communication activities and had invested 106 million $ in this field alone over the past 9 years. Pointing out that they guided the sector and left a lasting impact this way, Dindoruk emphasized that the company was ready to do any tasks and work necessary for our country and to undertake joint projects with public organizations or NGOs as a leader.

Energy Efficiency is a Culture
At the opening by Minister of Energy and Natural Resources Taner Yıldız and Minister of the Environment and Urbanization Erdoğan Bayraktar, Yıldız said ’’Energy efficiency is a culture on its own, therefore in addition to the economical aspect, these investments by Betek contributed significantly to mankind”. Yıldız pointed out that there weren’t many investments that contributed to the amortization process of 2 and more years, and said it excited them to see the strategies they had aimed for, being implemented. “Therefore we congratulate Betek on its giant investment in Kayseri”.

I Wish Everyone a Beneficial Daughter Like Miss Gözde
Bayraktar started off by expressing how impressed he was with Miss Gözde’s speech about her father. Emphasizing the impact of heat insulation on energy efficiency and the environment, Bayraktar added that these investments should set an example for everyone. I wish for all to have as beneficial a daughter as Miss Gözde.
