A Hot Subject: Make Savings

Saving on energy consumed for heating becomes more and more important day by day.

Scientific studies have revealed that our main fuel reserves such as oil, natural gas and coil are exhausting fast. Increase of energy costs seems inevitable considering the ever increasing oil and natural gas prices.

In order to achieve high quality of life and comfort in the future, energy saving should be made as soon as possible.

Energy Efficiency Certificate

The regulation for Energy Performance in Buildings, which directs us to use the energy we consume in our residential and working buildings more efficiently became effective on January 01, 2011. Starting from this date, it is required to receive an Energy Efficiency Certificate for all new buildings.

It is also required to receive the same certificate for the current buildings by May 2017. In order to receive an Energy Efficiency Certificate as the highest class, preferring a proper thermal insulation system is the only solution.

Energy Efficiency Certificate includes details regarding the energy requirement, energy consumption classification, insulation properties as well as efficiency of heating and cooling systems as a minimum. In an Energy Efficiency Certificate, annual energy consumption per usage area of building and greenhouse gas emission are classified according to the reference scale varying between "A" and "G". Energy efficiency Certificate is valid for 10 years from date of issue. At the end of this period, Energy efficiency Certificate will be reissued according to a report to be prepared.

Insulation = Investment

One of the common mistakes on the subject of insulation is the belief that heat mainly exists through the windows and the roof. However, the large part of heat energy gets lost through cold exterior walls with large surfaces areas and this loss constitutes half of the total heat loss. Therefore, if saving is the goal, insulation of exterior walls, where maximum heat loss occurs is the most efficient precaution in addition to the renewal of windows and the insulation of the attic.

Thanks to the thermal insulation performed with the application of the thermal insulation system, the cost of thermal insulation is compensated in 3 winters in average. This compensation period varies between 2 and 5 years depending on the quantity and type of fuel consumed as well as the type of the building. Considering that thermal insulation is an economy lasting for 4 seasons, this period will get shorter if we consider that air conditioner costs (power, coolant, service) will also decrease in the summer season with this insulation.76% of the energy we consume in houses is used for heating and nearly half of this energy gets lost through uninsulated or poorly insulated exterior walls. With a proper thermal insulation to be applied to your exterior walls, you will be able to make an energy and fuel saving of 50%.

In the left picture, the thermal camera displays heat loss from uninsulated walls as red areas, obviously. Whereas in the right picture, the same building is displayed after its exterior walls are insulated. You can see that heat loss is eliminated almost completely.
